I like Apple Mail for Mac OS X, but one thing that irritates me to no end is that the Load Images button (Load Remote Content in Mac OS X 10.10), which loads the images in a message on-demand, doesn't have a keyboard shortcut. There's no schedule for this yet, but certainly it's something that we're considering. Currently both the Linux and Windows IPF packages will produce Windows installers, and a driver for either Linux or OSX would be the next progression in OS support.

You have no idea how lame this is.
You're developing software for the Internet - which is *platform independent*. Why the bias against OS X and Linux? Are you guys scared, or something? A lot of my customers use OS X. Should I not sell to them anymore? No. Instead I have to create my own installer and bundle all of the ioncube decoders. Naw, that's not a lot of additional weight for them to upload..
This is a *huge* source of frustration for me. Let's get it together guys. Create an OS X Installer and make a lot of developers happy. And, who knows? Perhaps you'll increase revenues too? |

As I'm sure you realise, this is not a case of bias, and we have simply targeted the current product to the largest sector of users. Unix, e.g. Linux, users may prefer to have a tar.gz for installation as they are used to operating at that level, particularly if they have dedicated servers, and both OS X and Linux have historically not been widely used relative to Windows. Even if OS X and Linux based installers were supported, it would still necessary to provide installers that are archive based as there will be some users who demand those over an installer, so users on other platforms aren't excluded from using a given web product.
But the point about other platforms is noted. IPF is generally a fantastic tool for improving the installation experience for end users deploying web applications from a Windows client, and it would be nice to offer the same benefit to folks on other platforms.

It certainly would. It's been 7 months and the number of Mac users continue to rise. Where is the support?
Look, the only reason I'm concerned about this is that I would like to use the IPF. But I can't. Why? Because I *still* have to create a Web installer for Mac users. Since I have to do that, why would I want to use 2 different installers for my product?
I wouldn't. Therefore I'm forced to stick with my own installer instead of buying yours. |

An OS X IPF would definitely be nice, but not having an IPF for Mac does not prevent installers being created for the Windows users with the Windows or Linux IPF and a different mechanism offered for Mac or Unix users.
Having different installers for different platforms is common, and for local installs, Unix programs might be packaged in any of several common formats e.g. an RPM; Windows programs as a .exe installer created with a tool such as Innosetup; and a Mac installer as a DMG archive created with an OS X tool.
It would also be prudent to offer at least zip and tar.gz versions of a web product as some users, particularly Unix ones, may want an archive version instead of an installer.

Things I need details on:
Path to the latest binary (can it be pulled with wget over the internet?, if so I can use .PKG that pulls the latest source)
Where do things like php.ini go? Would it be better to just drop a php.ini sample in a folder for the user to decide where to put it?
What instructions should we show on the install screen (regarding php.ini or anything else)
What would you put in the readme file?
It will take only a few for me to compile an official .pkg install with this info.
